In view of the foregoing, we conducted this study to determine the potential efficacies of galectin-3 and presepsin in the diagnosis and follow-up of FMF by comparing their serum levels between FMF patients and healthy control subjects based on the hypothesis that elevated galectin-3 and presepsin levels could serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for FMF. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and familial Mediterranean fever.
