CHST3 and Hyperglycemia: Dietary exposure of flies to novel and promising therapeutic agents has been tested for their usefulness in treating metabolic conditions; for example, a plant compound, cucurbitacin, was shown to suppress hyperglycaemia associated with HSD in Drosophila [59], Fucoidan, an polysaccharide derived from algae was also shown to mitigate the metabolic dysregulation due to HSD [60], and many other phytochemicals proposed to help reduce metabolic stress and regulate fat storage have been screened in Drosophila models of metabolic dysfunction [61,62].
