CXCL8 and diabetes mellitus: In multivariate analyses including IL-8 ≥ 40.26 pg/mL, MCP-1, demographics (gender and age > median of 71.2 years), AVG as vascular access, history of diabetes, and body mass index (BMI) as explanatory variables, IL-8 ≥ 40.26 pg/mL (HR = 1.85, 95% CI [1.04–3.29]; p = 0.036), MCP-1 (HR = 1.19, 95% CI [1.01–1.39]; p = 0.033), and BMI ≥ 30 (HR = 2.33, 95% CI [1.16–4.64]; p = 0.017) remained significantly associated with an increased risk of AV access events (Table 4).
