Studies indicate that individuals with metabolic disorders (MUHO and MUHNO) are characterised by higher SCD1 and D6D activity and higher levels of SFA (e.g., palmitic acid) and n-6 PUFA (e.g., DGLA); lower D5D activity; and lower levels of n-6 and n-3 PUFA, such as LA, DHA, and EPA. Here, SCD is linked to metabolic disease.
