Monoclonal antibodies against circulating form of PCSK9 (e.g., alirocumab, evolocumab) and small-interfering ribonucleic acid (siRNA)—inclisiran that inhibits the production of PCSK9 in the liver cells—were implemented in the guidelines by European Society of Cardiology (ESC) with strong recommendation as an additional lipid-lowering therapy in patients with atherosclerotic complications (e.g., ischemic heart disease, peripheral artery disease, ischemic stroke) who did not meet LDL-c target [24,25,26,27]. Here, PCSK9 is linked to ischemic stroke.
