Although direct evidence in pancreatic cancer is limited, observational data in other malignancies suggest that IL-6 receptor blockade with tocilizumab can reduce CRP, increase serum albumin, maintain body weight, improve symptoms, and prolong median overall survival in cachectic patients with advanced non-small-cell lung cancer [84], while tocilizumab plus corticosteroids yielded short-term benefits in cancer cachexia with systemic hyperinflammation [85]. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
