The results of this study revealed that blocking the P2X7 receptor with antagonists decreases the development of arthritis in mice by inhibiting Th17 cells differentiation, which occurs after blocking the expression of Th17 cell polarizing cytokines (IL-1β, TGF-β1, IL-23, and IL-6) by dendritic cells [22]. Here, IL6 is linked to arthritic joint disease.
