CD34 and leukemia: Remarkably, MECOM perturbations induced significant loss of stem cell–like leukemia cells, as demonstrated by the loss of surface markers CD34 and/or CD117 across all patient samples (Figure 6E-K; supplemental Figure E-F), whereas the inactivation of the CEBPA cisRE could significantly rescue this differentiation phenotype and maintain cells in more stem cell–like states.
