Consistent with our hypothesis, the greater numbers of memory CD4+ T cells co-expressed the AIMs CD69 and CD40L in response to infected macrophages treated with MTB300 (0.833% [0.458–0.908]; median [interquartile range (IQR)], 10 participants) or lysate (0.933% [0.715–1.098]) compared with infection-only (0.62% [0.443–0.713]) (Fig. 1, B–E). This evidence concerns the gene CD4 and infection.
