Guo et al. (2023) demonstrated in vitro that matrine inhibits the proliferation and promotes apoptosis of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells by downregulating HN1 expression. According to the latest data from the World Health Organization, colorectal cancer (CRC) ranks third among the most common malignant tumors worldwide, with incidence and mortality rates of 9.6% and 9.3%, respectively (Bray et al., 2024). Cheng et al. (2022) treated CRC cells with various concentrations of matrine and found that matrine significantly inhibited CRC cell proliferation. This evidence concerns the gene JPT1 and colorectal carcinoma.
