STAT3 and torsades de pointes: Potential mechanisms include: (1) loss of IL-6–mediated myocardial protection via JAK/STAT3 activation, which may reduce resistance to ischemic injury (24); (2) altered autonomic regulation, potentially inducing bradycardia or rhythm disturbances (25); and (3) changes in potassium and calcium channel expression, prolonging action potential duration and QT interval, with a theoretical risk of torsades de pointes (26).
