Significant differences were observed between the two groups in age (t = 2.442, p< 0.015), sex (χ2 = 13.035, p< 0.001), family history of diabetes (χ2 = 12.227, p< 0.001), use of oral antidiabetic drugs (χ2 = 67.615, p< 0.001), use of insulin therapy (χ2 = 139.552, p< 0.001), educational level (χ2 = 88.891, p< 0.001), annual per capita household income (χ2 = 60.290, p< 0.001), duration of diabetes (t = 9.636, p< 0.015), and presence of diabetes-related complications (χ2 = 4.559, p< 0.001).
