In elderly individuals with hypertensive nephropathy, elevated levels of NGAL, KIM-1, IL-18, TNF-α, IL-6, NF-κB, and FMO3 were observed, accompanied by reduced urinary TMAO concentrations and impaired renal function, as indicated by increased serum creatinine and decreased eGFR. Here, LCN2 is linked to hypertensive nephropathy.
