CARM1 and neoplasm: Under the low-glucose conditions in the tumor microenvironment, Nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) becomes activated and binds to the CARM1 promoter, thereby upregulating its expression, and then triggering CARM1-mediated hypermethylation of histone H3 methylated at R arginine 17 (H3R17me2) in the glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase gene body.
