Interestingly, injecting mosquitoes with dsPGRPLC (Fig 5B) but not the dsPGRPLC1/LC2/LC3 mixture (Fig 5C) strongly inhibited Rel2-F cleavage after oral S. marcescens infections with concomitant enrichment of the full form, indicating that PGRPLC controls REL2-F activation cleavage in the gut after sensing Gram-negative bacteria.
