TNF and schizophrenia: Taking in consideration the predicted involvement of inflammatory signaling in schizophrenia (Muller et al. 2015) and TNF‐α ability in inducing astrocyte reactivity (Trindade et al. 2020), we decided to assay the expression of CX3CL1, IL‐33, classical complement components, and pro‐ and anti‐inflammatory cytokines in hiPSC‐derived astrocytes from five neurotypical (HCT) and five SCZ cases upon stimulation with TNF‐α (Figure 1A).
