PLAT and Arterial thrombosis: It was found that baicalin inhibited FeCl3-induced arterial thrombosis, significantly prolonged the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and plasminogen time (PT), decreased the ratio of plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 to tissue-type plasminogen activator (PAI-1/t-PA), and inhibited the activities of thrombin and coagulation factor FXa, inhibited thrombin-catalyzed fibrin polymerization and platelet function, thereby exerting antithrombotic effects (as shown in Table 2) (Lee et al., 2015).
