A recent study found that in vitro pretreatment of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) with puerarin for 1 h significantly attenuated oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) induced tissue factor (TF) expression, enhanced protein kinase B (Akt) phosphorylation and nitric oxide (NO) production, and inhibited extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) and nuclear factor Kappa B (NF-κB) activation, suggesting that puerarin has anticoagulant effects and is a potential drug for coronary artery disease and thrombosis prevention (Deng et al., 2017).
