In miRNA point of view, research shows that Treatment with genistein led to a significant inhibition of cell proliferation, as measured by MTT assay, and induced apoptosis while on the molecular level genistein downregulated the expression of miR-95, a microRNA implicated in cancer progression, as well as the mRNA levels of Akt and SGK1, two serine/threonine kinases known to promote survival and proliferation in cancer cells. The gene discussed is MARK2; the disease is cancer.
