Small‐molecule or biologic midkine antagonists have been explored in other diseases, and the present data justify evaluating midkine inhibition or interrupting its downstream PI3K/Akt coupling as a strategy to blunt ASM‐centric remodeling and inflammation in asthma (Hough et al., 2020; Joseph & Tatler, 2022). The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is asthma.
