MKI67 and atherosclerosis: In our model of established atherosclerosis (i.e., after 12 weeks on a high-cholesterol diet), 4 weeks of MCC950-induced NLRP3 inhibition led to a significant reduction in macrophage proliferation (Ki-67.+: 6.37 ± 0.8%, vs. 4.1 ± 0.59%, p = 0.03, and EdU: 3.3 ± 0.42%, vs. 1.65 ± 0.47%, p = 0.02) (Fig. 5b, c).
