In patients with diabetes, a cohort study provided evidence that sodium–glucose co‐transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor treatment was associated with a lower risk of new‐onset AF compared to treatments with dipeptidyl peptidase‐4 inhibitors or glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists amounting to 16–26%.24 Here, SLC5A2 is linked to atrial fibrillation.
