Indeed, in light of the ability of SARM1 to directly synthesize VAD from Vacor via base exchange with NAD [13], the possibility exists that, in contrast to Vacor‐sensitive cell lines that express both NMNAT2 and SARM1, in cancer cells exclusively overexpressing NMNAT2 the amount of VAD produced is insufficient to induce cell death.
