At randomisation, the mean age was 60.1 ± 10.5 years, 616 (51.5%) were men, the median duration of diabetes was 10 (5.0–16.0) years, 35.6% achieved ≥2 ABC targets, 83.9% were on statin, and 61.5% were on renin‐angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi) (Table 1).
