Given that VEGF directly induces platelet activation and aggregation, it is conceivable that tumor-derived VEGF in meningiomas leads to localized platelet sequestration and consumption at the tumor site, thereby leading to a relative decrease in circulating platelets which lowers systemic PLR (Liao et al., 2023; Huang et al., 2024; Le Chapelain et al., 2024). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is meningioma.
