GPX4 and Alzheimer disease: Additionally, Feng et al. (2023) found that the hippocampus of a mouse model of AD in which PSEN1 (Presenilin-1) had been knocked down had higher expression of ferroptosis-related proteins (GPX4, SLC7A11, ACSL4, Phosphatidylethanolamine Binding Protein 1) than did healthy mice (Feng et al., 2024a).
