Further, several studies from the past have found a positive association between diabetes mellitus and pancreatic cancer [17-19]. This could be explained by altered glucose metabolism in patients of PDAC with KRAS mutation, which is the most common mutation, seen in about 90% of the cases [20]. Further, diabetes mellitus is associated with a 1.8 times increased risk of pancreatic cancers in Asian and Hispanic men as compared to White and Black men.
