It was shown that the inhibition of suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3)—an inducible negative regulator of the JAK/STAT pathway that is strongly expressed in the adipose tissue of patients with Graves’ orbitopathy—resulted in a significant reduction in both proinflammatory cytokine production and adipogenesis (111). The gene discussed is SOCS3; the disease is Graves ophthalmopathy.
