While our study focuses on LAC diagnostic biomarkers, it is noteworthy that platelets exhibit dual roles across malignancies: In colorectal cancer, Erbin-deficient platelets transfer mitochondrial metabolites to B cells, enhancing PD1 degradation and antitumor immunity (46); conversely, in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), procoagulant platelets deliver immune checkpoint (IC) molecules that dysregulate leukocytes to drive immune escape (47). The gene discussed is ERBIN; the disease is triple-negative breast carcinoma.
