Compared to our previous findings in C. albicans vaginal isolates, the periodontal strains showed higher detection frequencies of ALS1, ALS2, ALS3, ALS4, ALS6, ALS7, and ALS9 in strains from the three diagnoses than those previously described by our working group in a study of C. albicans strains isolated from vaginal candidiasis [22]. The gene discussed is SETX; the disease is vulvovaginal candidiasis.
