MRPL47 and multiple system atrophy: As a component of the mitochondrial protein biosynthesis, the large ribosomal subunit protein uL29m (MRPL47) was increased not only in striatal GABAergic MSNs but also in the proteome of the cingulate gyrus of sporadic Parkinson’s disease patients (n = 3) compared to MSA-P patients (n = 3) [6], indicating a higher demand for mitochondrial protein synthesis in both diseases.
