The two downregulated proteins in MSA cell lines assigned to transporter activity (GO:0005215), the voltage-gated calcium channel subunit alpha-2/delta-1 (CACNA2D1) and the voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv7.2 (KCNQ2), may affect the functional properties of striatal GABAergic medium spiny neurons. This evidence concerns the gene CACNA2D1 and multiple system atrophy.
