Koyanagi et al. have recently demonstrated for the first time that SC-derived galectin-3, the β-galactoside binding protein serving as an immune cell chemoattractant, may play an important pro-nociceptive role in the development of taxanes (paclitaxel and docetaxel)-induced peripheral neuropathy via macrophage infiltration into the peripheral nerves [698]. This evidence concerns the gene LGALS3 and peripheral neuropathy.
