INSL3 and Cachexia: In particular, they showed that intracerebroventricular, though not intraperitoneal, injection of INSL3 in mice reduced food intake; that some, though not all, pancreatic cancer cell lines expressed and secreted INSL3 peptide into culture media; and that circulating INSL3 was higher in blood from PDAC patients, especially those suffering cachexia, and thus might be considered a new cancer biomarker (2).
