INS and Hyperglycemia: If the fasting plasma glucose level is ≥ 126 mg/dL or the postprandial level is ≥ 200 mg/dL, this indicates confirmed persistent hyperglycaemia and insulin can be prescribed during the postpartum period, even for breastfeeding mothers without concerns about neonatal side effects.14 Endocrine follow-up is essential, especially for women who received high doses of insulin during pregnancy.8
