CCN2 and neoplasm: Among these genes, we found coagulation factor XIII (F13A1), which converts fibrinogen to fibrin, leading to the formation of clots and tumour emboli; the powerful anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10; CCN family genes (CCN2/CTGF and CCN4/WISP1); integrins (ITGB3, ITGB6); ECM remodelling genes (CTSV, PLAU, TIMP1); the growth factor and EMT inducer EGF; and the tumour suppressor phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) (Figure 3C, Supplementary Table S1) (50, 54–68).
