To initiate infection, DENV binds to a broad array of receptors on the host cell surface, including the macrophage mannose receptor (MMR/CD206) [14], dendritic cell-specific intercellular adhesion molecule-3-grabbing non-integrin (DC-SIGN) [15], low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein-1 (LRP1) [16], C-type lectin domain family 5 member A (CLEC5A) [17], and Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2), along its co-receptor CD14 [18]. This evidence concerns the gene CD209 and infection.
