FASN and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease: Scd1 is involved in hepatic lipid synthesis and β-oxidation, and Scd1-deficient mice have shown resistance to NAFLD.(27)Fasn is a key enzyme in de novo lipogenesis and is upregulated in the livers of obese diabetic mice with NAFLD.(28)Elovl6 regulates fatty acid elongation and has been associated with insulin resistance and steatosis severity in NASH.(29) Our findings suggest that MCFAs may suppress hepatic lipid synthesis and inflammation by downregulating these genes, thereby contributing to the prevention of hepatic fat accumulation.
