Although anti–vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy is the mainstay treatment for AMD, breakthrough vitreous hemorrhage may occur after intravitreal anti-VEGF injections, particularly in patients with AMD and submacular hemorrhages.8 Therefore, including anti-VEGF use as a covariate in the analysis would be appropriate. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and age-related macular degeneration.
