Among the three candidate causal proteins identified in participants of African ancestry, one was also a causal protein in the NHW population for the corresponding trait (GBA1 for Parkinson’s disease), but the other two were causal in the AA population only (METAP1 and ADH5 in alcohol use disorder), indicating that these are potential population-specific causal proteins. The gene discussed is ADH5; the disease is Parkinson disease.
