Later research revealed autoantibodies targeting α-MSH, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) in subpopulations of patients with different EDs, including BN and BED (Fetissov et al., 2002), proposing the hypothesis that there was an involvement of autoantibodies against neuropeptides in the regulation of appetite and emotions in EDs (Fetissov et al., 2008). The gene discussed is STAMBP; the disease is Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
