Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene rearrangement occurs in half of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) cases (7), while disruptions in the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathway due to tuberous sclerosis complex 1 and 2 (TSC1 and TSC2) gene mutations are common in perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) (8). The gene discussed is ALK; the disease is inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor.
