Moreover, the Confluence Project is building a large, diverse research resource of approximately 300,000 breast cancer cases and 300,000 controls by coordinating collaborations between LAGENO-BC, AABCG12, BCAC, the Consortium of Investigators of Modifiers of BRCA1/2 (CIMBA), the Male Breast Cancer Genetics Consortium (MERGE), and other breast cancer studies and clinical trials, that will help support and lead to an improved understanding of breast cancer etiology, and improvements in risk stratification and prevention across diverse populations.
