This was due to destruction of red blood cells before their normal 120-day life span by direct viral action which results hemoglobinuria derived from free Hb, erythrocyte fragility due to abnormal globulins, and increased hemolytic toxicants by decreased hepatic clearance, rapid splenomegaly and decreased Hb concentration [56,57].
