PSMB8 and proteosome-associated autoinflammatory syndrome: Chronic Atypical Neutrophilic Dermatosis with Lipodystrophy and Elevated temperature (CANDLE), a recently characterized proteasome-associated autoinflammatory syndrome (PRAAS), is mostly caused by autosomal recessive founder mutations in the proteasome subunit beta type-8 gene, PSMB8. These mutations reduce function of the 20S proteasome core, disrupting intracellular proteolytic degradation(de Jesus et al., 2019; Montealegre Sanchez et al., 2020).
