The macromolecules albumin and LDL are key contributors to tissue homeostasis and to the intimal aspect of atherosclerosis, respectively, and their transport from the artery lumen into the intima and media has been well studied (Karner et al (2001); Tarbell (2003); Tada and Tarbell (2004); Ai and Vafai (2006); Chung and Vafai (2013)). Here, ALB is linked to atherosclerosis.
