Specifically, lncRNAs may exert their effects via the endocytosis signaling pathway, as exemplified by lncRNA H19 modulating VSMC migration through clathrin-mediated endocytosis in atherosclerosis [23], whereas circRNAs may modulate the phenotypic transition of VSMCs by sequestering key microRNAs (miRNAs) in the ErbB signaling pathway, akin to CircWDR77 acting as a miR-124 sponge to activate EGFR/ERBB2 signaling in neointimal hyperplasia [16].
