Notably, SP1-enriched promoters were predominantly associated with known oncogenes, including Ahcyl2 [41], Bcl3 [36, 42], and Sp1 itself (Supplementary Fig. S1A) [26–28], suggesting that SP1’s oncogenic potential may arise from its role in regulating transcription of cancer-associated genes [43].
