CD44 and retinal degeneration: indicated that Tnc is upregulated early in glial cells following RI, and its knockout alleviated retinal functional impairment.[23] Another study showed that in a model of retinal degeneration, CD44 expression in Müller cells increases, and CD44 knockout exacerbates photoreceptor degeneration, retinal dysfunction, and inflammatory responses.[24] Notably, interactions between these upregulated molecules and Hmga2 following RI have not been previously reported.
