Although the roles of ATG4C and ATG4D in autophagy are less well‐characterized compared to ATG4A and ATG4B, knockdown of ATG4C has been shown to induce cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase and ROS‐mediated apoptosis in glioma cells, likely through suppression of autophagy [50].
