Treatment with a lymphoid based regimen, hyperCVAD, was initiated in combination with ponatinib, (30 mg) a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has demonstrated activity against leukemia with the ZMYM2: FGFR1 translocation both in murine models5 and in a case study.6 At the end of induction (cycles 1A and 1B of hyperCVAD), a BMBx showed a hypercellular marrow with myeloid hyperplasia but with no increase in blasts and no evidence of t(8;13) by FISH, consistent with CR1. This evidence concerns the gene FGFR1 and leukemia.
