SV2A and epilepsy: Previous studies have reported a decrease in SV2A expression in the brains of epileptic mice[47, 48] and resected human brain tissue obtained during epilepsy surgery.[49, 50] Limited in vivo studies utilizing PET imaging to quantify synaptic density have similarly reported decreased SV2A binding in the ipsilateral hippocampus and mesial temporal lobe of TLE patients.[35, 36, 51] However, these studies primarily focused on localized synaptic changes, without considering potential alterations in global network topology or interactions among spatially distributed brain regions.
